16.03 Addison Groove + Franjazzco @ Fluc Wanne

KS_Addison Groove

Addison Groove (Swamp81/Tempa – Bristol/UK)

Addison Groove started life under a different pseudonym altogether. Recording as Headhunter, with an LP and 12” releases on the influential Tempa label stretching back to 2007, he achieved legendary status within the dubstep scene. His work at the deeper end of the spectrum graced the label an impressive 7 times, a figure matched only by Skream. This work looked set to continue until 2010 when, seemingly out of nowhere, he crafted one of the biggest bass music tracks of the decade, ‘Footcrab’, under the new name of Addison Groove.

The response to ‘Footcrab’ was phenomenal, receiving critical and commercial success in equal measure across the dance music scene. Getting plays not only from the dubstep DJs that Williams was used to reaching, it also found its way into the record boxes of techno and house heavyweights such as Aphex Twin, Surgeon, Ricardo Villalobos and Mr Scruff, bringing an enormous new audience to his music in the process. Taking influences from the Chicago ghetto tek and juke scenes, Addison Groove’s impact on UK bass music has been colossal and unprecedented, sparking a huge interest in these styles from his peers and the listening public alike.

“Transistor Rhythm”, Addison Groove’s debut album, is a rare example of a release where the description “much anticipated” is not just a fantasy of some PR agent. The expectations are high, but we are convinced nobody is gonna be disappointed. Hear for yourself!

Franjazzco aka Franz Otto (www.franjazzco.com – Vienna/AT)

As he tends to keep things low and is not too interested in any hype shit, you might not have recognized him yet – though, Franjazzco (formerly known as Franz „Jazzin“ Otto) has definitely been one of the most passionate and enthusiastic players in Vienna’s underground dance music scene within the last decade.

Franjazzco’s been doing his thing on the ones and twos since way back in 1995. Besided being a DJ and promoter, the past has seen him as chief editor of the online radio station Play FM, editor of the Drum & Bass magazine Resident, host of various radio shows or trainer in lots of DJ workshops for the youngs.

After a creative break due to health reasons, he’s definitely back in the game in 2k12, probably stronger than ever! Be sure to stay long at Fluc Wanne this night, for Franjazzco’s gonna bring his eclectic and highly emotional, yet bangin’ definition of Bass music to you right after Addison Groove ’til the lights go on!

Chances are high that you’ll get a taste of his current passion of Juke and Footwork sounds, probably with some of his latest productions, which recently got props from all over the world, including the likes of Chicago’s very own DJ Rashad and Jana Rush, Philpot’s Soulphiction, Roman Rauch and The Reboot Joy Connection or DJ Fulltono and Paisley Parks from Japan. Yet, as Franjazzco has been a real nerd collector of House, Techno, Garage, Hip Hop, Soul, Funk, Jazz and Latin music and all the good shit for 17 years by now, better expect the unexpected!

Tonight: Zed Bias live on FM4 – La boum de luxe

Zed Bias will be guest on Radio FM4 La boum de luxe around midnight, before he is gonna perform at our Party at Fluc Wanne Viiienna.

13.01.2012: Zed Bias + Roman Rauch @ Fluc Wanne

about Zed Bias aka Maddslinky:

One of the pioneers of breakbeat garage, his pseudonyms include Zed Bias, Phuturistix, Henchmen, Daluq, Talissman, Ruffcut Bias, Nu Design, 7 Wonders, Dekata Project, Strontium Dog – just some of the names Maddslinky, aka Dave Jones, has recorded under in the last ten years as himself or in collaboration with others.

With a slew of seminal releases in 1999 on his own Sidewinder and Sidestepper imprints, Jones then hit the UK Charts as Zed Bias in 2000 with Neighbourhood, now widely regarded as one of the all time classic UK Garage tracks. So much so that with the recent resurgence in the 2-Step sound in the UK club scene it was re-released last year with a remix from Roska that fully redefined its importance to a younger generation of clubbers.

As a trailblazer of underground dance music, he is always moving with – or ahead of – the times and his productions grace the playlists of Radio 1 DJs Gilles Peterson and Mary Anne Hobbs, as well as making themselves at home in the record boxes of DJ/producers like Toddla T, Blame, Skream, Plastician, Oneman, Benga, Kode 9 and Martyn (who included new track ‘Lost on Tenori Street’ on his recent ‘Fabric 50’ mix).

Upfront tastemaker promos of the new material have seen regular rotation from the likes of Benji B (1xtra), Gilles Peterson (Radio 1), Alex Nut (Rinse FM), Mary Anne Hobbs (Radio 1), Toddla T (Radio 1), Annie Mac (Radio 1) and more. Features and rave reviews are stacking up across the dance music press and beyond, including DJ Mag, iDJ, XLR8R, Fact, Vice, Clash and many more, with the album being hailed as a triumphant comeback for the man who never really went away, but has been busily toiling underground while the scene he helped to shape has taken the music world by storm.

about Roman Rauch:

Roman Rauch is in the game for years. Collecting records since the early 90s – Quincy Jones, John Coltrane, Herbie Hancock, A Tribe called Quest, De la Soul, Theo Parrish…….. No matter the style or genre – It’s all about those big tunes.

Through his passion for music Roman became a disc jockey and part of the Clean Scene Cuts Dj collective in 1998. Since then he is spinning records all around europe. From Vienna to Barcelona, Zagreb to Munich – Mr. Rauch is responsible for the crowded dancefloor.

But Roman as a great producer as well…..Deep House, Hip Hop, Broken Beat – the only thing thats for sure is that a Roman Rauch production gots to be deep and dirty.

But not enough – Roman is involved in numerous projects: Together with Sam Irl (Fresh Minute) and Josef Eisl (RBMA) they form Generell Deep. Under this name they do a monthly radioshow, produce tracks and host occasional parties. Check out their Whistle Bump Boogie track including some extraordinary Dorian Concept Remix. On the beats side he’s also producing beats for the mysterious Weedgeterian, of who some people claim it’s even himself.

And of course Roman likes to collaborate. He worked with Kid Sublime (Kindred Spirits, Jahwell), Philta (4Lux), Makula (Eklektik), Duktus (Tokyo Dawn), Dorian Concept (Kindred Sprits), Blunted Monkz (Faces), Pow Lee (Urban Legends) and Bartellow, with whom he’s just working on another exciting project.
